FDOT Helps Stranded Travelers

Charles Hernandez, Highway Maintenance Specialist at Tampa Maintenance, recently helped two women who had a flat tire in Tampa.  He was approaching a job site and noticed a disabled vehicle in the median on US 41.  Each woman had two small children by the hand in the median. Charles stopped to assist this family for safety reasons and also because it was mid-day and very hot for the children. The women did not realize they had a spare and the needed equipment under their mini-van, so they had called their grandfather who was driving in from Ft. Myers to help them. Charles was able to change their tire and have them back on the road within 15 minutes.  The women were very appreciative and the grandfather was saved a trip to Tampa.  Thank you Charles for representing FDOT in such a courteous manner!
