As soon as helmets were falling out of the back of the van, it seemed as if the children recognized the cue and lined up to receive a personally fitted bicycle helmet. Of course, a bike-riding parent couldn’t go unfitted. They were also given the same attention and care. 79 participants were fit with helmets just their size.
FDOT safety employees, Ralph Salvas, Dana Crosby, Shada Salvas, and Karen Loewen covered the WT Moore Health Fair at Tom Brown Park in Tallahassee.
At the JR Alford Park, Leon County was celebrating Leon County Greenways Day with activities for all. Hay rides, face painting, bouncy houses, star gazers and much more. A host of FDOT folks came out ready to fit helmets and install bike lights.
Lora and Ken Hollingsworth, Trenda and Robert McPherson, Joe Santos, MaryAnn Koos, Matt Taylor, and Sarita Taylor fitted 98 helmets and distributed 128 sets of bike lights. It was a perfect fall day to promote bike safety campaign.
