FDOT Safety Office hosted a school crossing guard trainer-training course. The FDOT trainer-training includes both classroom instruction and practical training. A prospective trainer must pass a written final exam with a minimum score of 85 percent and pass the practical training skill examination with all satisfactory marks. Uniform training promotes consistent, effective operation of guarded school crossings throughout the state.
Amanda Day from our partner Best Foot Forward came to speak to the class. This organization has much in common with the crossing guard program as we all look to improve pedestrian safety.
