Texas-Florida Peer Exchange

Texas-Florida Peer Exchange

The Texas and Florida DOTs began a state-to-state Peer Exchange on September 30, 2014.  Six leaders from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) came to Tallahassee to meet with Secretary Ananth Prasad, Assistant Secretary for Engineering and Operations Brian Blanchard, Assistant Secretary for Finance and Administration Brian Peters, and more than 20 other FDOT staff.

Discussion topics included project prioritization processes, finance techniques such as public private partnerships and tolling, performance measurement, freight planning, strategic planning and others.  Each state has a very large transportation program and dedicated staff.

Participants agreed this was a valuable idea exchange that should lead to improvements for both states. An FDOT team will travel to Texas to continue the exchange of ideas. Texas-Florida Peer Exchange
