At the 2014 TransComm event hosted by the Arizona Department of Transportation in Scottsdale, honors were awarded to the best transportation communication projects among all the DOTs in the nation in the annual Skills Contest. Each state was able to enter up to six projects, and FDOT left with the title for Best Logo as well as an honorable mention for the 2013 Annual Report. The logo that took home the award was none other than the new FDOT logo as voted on by our employees. The new logo was first released in 2013, replacing the round logo that had represented the department since 1989.
“I was very impressed with the depth of research and analysis put into the development of the logo. Every possible detail was addressed and presented here in a transparent manner, including voting results, negative comments, and alternate design ideas. Including employee and public designs was a stroke of genius, and a creative step most agencies miss.”
“The new design is clean, modern, and can be easily identified at any size. I especially appreciated two small details: 1) the addition of the “Keys” and 2) this designer did the best possible job of working with the shape of the state.”
“This was not a beauty contest, and your team understood that. Your submittal materials were well organized and thorough, and exactly what we needed to evaluate your objectives and results.”
“Congratulations! Your team did a wonderful job with this portion of the rebranding initiative.”
