The career fair allows prospective engineering students at the University of Florida to meet with those who have already secured careers in the industry such as FDOT. They answer questions the students may have about their particular field of study – everything from civil to electrical to environmental – and explain what career paths are available at FDOT.
A special thank you goes out to Dino Jameson (SMO), Brandon Sasser (SMO), Bill Wortner (District Two), Brent Melvin (D2) and Johnathon Hardy (D2) for participating in the University of Florida’s Annual Career Planning and Resume Workshop which was recently held at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. These representatives, from the SMO office and the D2 office, teamed up to spend their evening speaking with engineering students about the job opportunities available here at FDOT. The event was a great success with more than 300 engineering students in attendance throughout the night.
Joint participation at career fair events between the State Materials Office and District Two has now extended over the last several years, providing graduating engineering students with valuable information about the vast scope of work performed by the department everyday. The cooperation between SMO and District Two not only highlights the department’s continued commitment to building for the future but also demonstrates the readiness to work as “One FDOT.”
