November and December were busy months for the Florida School Crossing Guard Training Program! Train the Trainer classes were held in Sarasota, Alachua, and Osceola counties.
The goal of this course, developed and provided by the FDOT Safety Office, is to promote uniform training to ensure consistent, effective operation of guarded school crossings throughout the state.
Participants included individuals from Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Largo Police Department, Staffing Connection, Sarasota Police Department, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Police Department, St. Cloud Police Department, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Orlando Police Department, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Trainings also featured a local speaker, giving participants information about pedestrian safety in their community.
Congratulations to these new trainers! They are a big plus in our efforts to increase pedestrian safety.
