SASHTO Scholarship

The Florida Department of Transportation, through the Southeastern Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (SASHTO), is excited to announce the return of the annual scholarship program coming February 2015.  The SASHTO Scholarship program provides financial assistance to the student dependents of FDOT employees and recognizes the achievements of these students.  To date, the program has awarded 226 scholarships totaling over $160,000 in financial assistance.

This year’s program features two scholarship levels:

  • Secretary’s Scholarship ($1,000)
  • District Secretary’s Scholarship ($500)

Scholarships can be used for any school-related expense, such as tuition, books, supplies, required fees, and more.  Scholarships are paid directly to the student.

Who is eligible to apply? Dependents of FDOT Employees under the age of 25 at the time of application who are graduating high school seniors or students with proof of current enrollment pursuing one of the following: an undergraduate degree at a four-year college or university; an associate degree at a two-year accredited college; certification at a career, vocational, technical or training institution.  FDOT employee dependents employed in an OPS or part-time position with the department are also eligible.  Applicants must have an un-weighted minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

All applicants must submit a short application and current transcript, and create a brief video essay.  A statewide volunteer committee made up of FDOT representatives from the seven districts, the Florida Turnpike, and Central Office will evaluate and score applicants to determine who is selected for the 2015 program.
