Representatives from agencies throughout Miami-Dade County were in attendance at the FDOT Days event on June 1. The bi-annual event provides an opportunity for local agencies to meet members of the FDOT District Six team. It also encourages them to become familiar with the different departments that work on a daily basis to support the community infrastructure.
Secretary Pego kicked off the event by introducing himself and reviewing FDOT’s goal and vision with the audience. The presentation included overviews of each department and highlights of recent projects and FDOT efforts.
Speakers from the offices of Intermodal Systems Development, Traffic Operations, Construction, Design, Transportation Development and Transportation Support, all addressed the crowd, which included more than 70 attendees from local agencies in Miami-Dade County.
Booths were set up throughout the auditorium representing a variety of departments. Team members from each division were on hand to speak with event participants, introduce themselves and answer any questions related to their department. Several booths also contained handouts and flyers providing background and information on the services they offer.
In addition, a tour of the Transportation Management Center (TMC) was included providing a glimpse into the FDOT control center where public services such as the Road Rangers and 95 Express are coordinated.
As part of the event, participants were given a District Six handbook which will serve as a resource for these agencies in the future. The handbook contains key contacts organized by department as well as an overview of the District, organizational charts and District maps.
