Jacksonville Jaguars professional football fans were once again our target audience this season as FDOT hosted Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow information tent in the Jags Entertainment Zone at four home games. Fans were asked to fill out a survey of their knowledge of pedestrian and bicycle laws in exchange for safety materials. Many were unaware of the distance a driver should give a bicyclist when passing (3 feet) or that bicyclists riding at night should have a rear red light visible up to 600 feet.
FDOT is looking for ways to provide safety tips to drivers as well as those walking and biking along our roadways.
Those assisting with the campaign at Jaguar games from District Two included Jerry Ausher, Rodney Cooper, Jeff Scott, Jennifer Graham, Andrea Atran, and Marion Dipola (all in Jacksonville Traffic Operations) as well as Steve Sedwick in District Materials, Gina Busscher in Public Information, and PIO consultants Monica Reifeiss, Allen Nelson, Debbie Delgado, and John Powers.
