Manatee Operations Center staff celebrated a relocation to a new state of the art, energy efficient operations center in Manatee County. The $19.3 million complex replaced the old Sarasota Operations Center originally built in 1957.
More than 60 staff members moved to the new location at 14000 State Road 64 E in Bradenton. Located on the campus are office buildings, an auto and truck shop, a warehouse, storage facility, field crew operations, and covered heavy equipment storage.
Albert Rosenstein, Operations Center Engineer and the center’s staff hosted the ribbon cutting. Speakers included District Secretary Billy Hattaway, Director Randy Prescott, and Manatee County Commissioner Vanessa Baugh.
The ceremony was attended by Palmetto Mayor Shirley Groover Bryant, Assistant Secretary Brian Blanchard, and media partners including ABC 7 News, The Observer, and Sarasota Herald. Project Manager Chad Lewis and a host of FDOT staff and friends were also present.
