FDOT Consultant Media Relations Group, LLC (MRG) has worked with the team in District Six for the past six years to develop and expand the Put it Down campaign. The campaign focuses on helping drivers understand the risks associated with distracted driving, notifying and educating the public about the ban on texting and driving in Florida and ultimately helping to make our roadways safer. The principal strategy of the campaign was to build key partnerships within the community that would maximize communications resources and help spread the department’s safety message, participate in or sponsor outreach events and provide materials and resources that would assist in these endeavors. On behalf of FDOT and its 108 partners, MRG entered the 2015 campaign, which spread this important message to more than 61.5 million people.
At the annual the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Sunshine District conference, MRG was awarded the Radiance Award for Public Service, the highest award in the category. The PRSA Sunshine District represents more than 1,000 public relations professionals throughout the State of Florida.
The Radiance Awards highlight Florida’s PR campaigns that demonstrate excellence in research, planning, implementation and evaluation judging on the campaign’s success and the value it has brought to the public relations profession today.
