On June 6, 2019, the Florida Department of Transportation District Two hosted the annual Take Your Child to Work Day event in Lake City. Over 100 eager children gathered to learn about their parent’s day-to-day duties and responsibilities at the Florida Department of Transportation.
Included in the agenda were equipment and bridge simulation demos, a visit to the sign shop/materials department, Florida Highway Patrol K’9s, Florida Wildlife Conservation animals exhibit, a PLEMO gopher tortoise presentation and a horned owl and possum from the Wildlife Refuge. Participation certificates were given to the children and the day was an educational success!
