Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway Celebrates New Extension
FDOT approved the byway organization’s request to add an additional 38 miles of highway, bringing the byway length to 233 miles in Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties.
Crossing Guard Appreciation Day 2016
Governor Scott signed a proclamation designating Friday, February 5, 2016, as Crossing Guard Appreciation Day. Throughout the state, crossing guard programs and agencies held events to show appreciation to their guards.
I-75/University Parkway ACROW Temporary Bridge Launch
On the night of February 2, and through the early morning hours of February 3, the largest ACROW temporary bridge in the U.S. rolled into position over University Parkway in Sarasota County.
S.T.E.M. Lesson at Starkey Elementary
Starkey Elementary School in Pinellas County requested to have a District Seven Florida Department of Transportation bridge engineer talk to their S.T.E.M. program (about 30 4th and 5th graders) about bridges.
Champions Ride for Bicycle Safety
On February 17, Alert Today Florida hosted its second annual “Champions Ride for Bicycle Safety.” Approximately 40 avid cyclists, who also happen to be very well known celebrities, came out to ride and show their support for the cause.
Wildflower Photography Exhibit
On February 10, photographer John Moran visited FDOT Central Office to celebrate the official opening of the La Florida Wildflower photography exhibit, now displayed in the lobby of the Burns Building. Employees enjoyed the opportunity to meet John and discuss his nature photography.
Drive Safe Kick-Off
The Florida Department of Transportation launched the “Drive Safe” campaign in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. It serves to inform drivers of the risks of aggressive driving.
