In order to raise awareness and educate citizens on the dangers of work zones, FDOT collaborated with partners at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles as well as law enforcement to drive down fatalities in work zones.
The District Seven office teamed up with the City of Tampa, the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Tampa Downtown Partnership, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and other community partners to bring “Cyclovia” to the streets of Downtown Tampa.
Jacksonville is covered in Alert Today Alive Tomorrow messages and signs as part of a rollout from November 2013 to summer of 2014 to educate motorist, pedestrians, and bicyclists about the safety campaign.
This month the Florida Department of Transportation took home two first place awards at the 2013 TransComm conference for transportation communication.
With hazards and increased risk of injury or fatality in roadway work zones, FDOT recognized April 15 – 19th as part of National Work Zone Safety Awareness week.
The Florida Cabinet declares December “Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Month.”
