FDOT and the Florida Highway Patrol held a press conference on June 2, 2016 to introduce proposed safety measures on I-95 in Miami-Dade County. The plan includes construction of dedicated emergency/ enforcement pull-off zones as well as enhanced law enforcement to reduce dangerous driver behavior.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the Florida Department of Transportation teamed up with safety advocates to bring awareness to the dangers of drowsy driving during Florida’s Drowsy Driving Prevention Week.
Teens from all over the state learned about existing Graduated Driver’s License laws, the benefits of safety belt use, the hazards of distracted driving and texting, reducing speeding, reducing impaired driving and underage drinking, and how to educate their peers and community leaders on these issues.
The hallmarks of the national Click It or Ticket crackdown are ramped-up enforcement, meaning zero tolerance for unbuckled vehicle occupants and effective communication to all road users about the importance of safety belts.
