FDOT and the Florida Highway Patrol held a press conference on June 2, 2016 to introduce proposed safety measures on I-95 in Miami-Dade County. The plan includes construction of dedicated emergency/ enforcement pull-off zones as well as enhanced law enforcement to reduce dangerous driver behavior.
Matthieu Widner was on routine patrol when he came upon what he “thought was a disabled vehicle.” When he approached the vehicle he noticed the male driver, leaning into the back seat and trying to grab his child.
As part of the Florida Scenic Highway Program, the U.S. 1 Corridor from Key West to Key Largo is the only nationally designated All-American Road in Florida. This year the Alliance is celebrating its 18th year as a designated scenic highway and seven years as a nationally designated corridor.
At the annual the Public Relations Society of America’s Sunshine District conference, FDOT’s Put it Down campaign was awarded the Radiance Award in Public Service, the highest award in the category.
The FDOT Safety Office, along with our wonderful partners, presented the Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition’s fourth annual Leadership Academy. Teens from all over the state learned how to educate their peers and community leaders on safe driving issues.
